A. Guidelines:
1. A certificated employee who is placed in a position for which the individual is not fully endorsed may apply for tuition assistance.
2. The purpose of the tuition assistance is to pay for only the tuition costs for the required specific endorsement content courses.
3. No assistance will be provided for textbooks or for other miscellaneous fees.
4. No tuition assistance will be available to meet the general education, professional studies, or recertification requirements.
5. For every three - semester hour course payment to unendorsed employee agrees to perform one year of service for the school system after the completion of the endorsements requirements in the area for which the expenses were paid.
6. An employee will be required to reimburse the school system the paid tuition costs plus the prevailing rate of interest on those tuition costs if either of the following conditions exist:
- employee fails to receive a passing grade in the course or
- employee withdraws from the course prior to its completion or
-employee voluntarily leaves the school system prior to the completion of the required service or
- employee voluntarily transfers into another position within the school system which requires a different endorsement prior to the completion of the required service.
7. An employee will not be required to reimburse the paid tuition costs plus interest if either of the following conditions exist
- employee involuntarily leaves the school system prior to completion of the required service.
- employee is involuntarily transferred to another position within the school system requiring a different endorsement prior to the completion of the required service.
